All the works are me. Art has become my visual diary. I am the creator of my works, but for me they seem to have their own secret power, energy, even will. I do not seek art pieces. I simply assist in the creative process by bringing the pieces in the visual/physical realm to share with the world. The forms of my current work are organic: not the Romantic notion of "organicism," but literally like the organs of a living body. This pleases me. Even though many recent pieces are not sleek, even though they embrace impaling spikes, they have a heartbeat, they pulse with life. I hope that all of my life is in my art - my hopeful youth, my wiser middle-age, my identity as an American, and my undeniable affinity with African forms - and that they find a response in the lives of others.
